1.9D D4192T2 Fuel filter change, instructions?

Hello,

this car has the older type fuel filter which screws on similar to oil filter. I can't find any instructions for replacing it. Vida has nothing on this subject. How do I get to the filter itself? There seems to be a metal drum shaped cover over it. How to remove this cover? Do I need to prime the new filter?

Thanks

Vida 2014d certainly has the full procedure laid out with pictures and descriptions and I'd be surprised if earlier Vida versions aren't the same so check again.

It has them for D4192T3 and D4192T4, but nor for D4192T or D4192T2. I'm using 2012D.

Anyone has any hints? Especially about removing that metal cover so that I don't break something.

Which model year are you entering?

2000.

Anyway, the job's done. First you have to move the relay box out of the way and remove the air cleaner housing to gain access. Then remove the 2 big nuts that hold the whole filter/heater assembly, also remove the small philips screw on the top of the unit, then slide off the bottom metal cover, then you could unscrew the filter, but I couldn't undo it with the whole assembly still in the car, so I ended up removing the whole unit. You can do this by disconnecting 2 connectors and 2 rubber hoses. Have rags around because fuel's gonna spill. Then I put the unit with the filter side into a vice and only this way I could unscrew the filter. It must have been on there for ages. Install in reverse order. Put some oil on the rubber gasket. I primed the filter using the built in hand pump. The car fired right up. Hope it helps someone.
