Air quality sensor, passenger seat and climate control issue

Hi All

Had a problem recently where the passenger climate control would only blow hot, and also discovered that passenger seat heating had also failed.

After numerous searches, and reviewing many threads that never seemed to conclude, I wanted to confirm that my problems were addressed by replacing the air quality sensor (part 31369324).

Car is 2.4 D MY2006 (55 plate).

Thanks.

Gary

I had the same issue when I replaced a faulty AQS (Air Quality Control Sensor) with the wrong part.
From all my research I have found that the part is chassis number reliant/fussy,
They all look the same (including the VW ones) but all give different results on the vehicle network system from what I gather.

I recently fitted a Hella part No. 6PX 012.684-051
I was told this was the part I needed for my 2005 XC90 D5 Exec.
how ever it gave the same symptoms you described and showed lots of error codes.

I'm now going for Hella part No. 6PX 012.684-061
Other part site show this to be correct for chassis numbers up to 439779.

When it arrives and fitted I'll share my results.

Forgot to add that the Volvo parts catalog was showing my AQS part number to be 31250683

I've fitted the HELLA part number 6PX 012.684-061
It works without errors on my 2005 XC90 Exec.

Hope this helps.

Which chassis number does your car have?
To 779 or From 780?

I thought all this part did was monitor the air entering the whole of the car from outside?

Upon sensing dirty (for example stuck in traffic air) it switches a flap to stop air from entering the car and transfers to a recirculation mode.

Error code; ccm 0040. I believe this sensor has failed on many used Volvos.

But as has been said many times, if it fails it can take down the LIN bus, which causes lots of other failures.

The potential for sensors failing and causing strange issues becomes more of a concern with every year that rolls by.

The LIN bus is generally made inoperative if the wrong AQS is fitted

The wrong AQS has a different pinout and different signals on the pins, this kills the LIN bus for the duration it is connected. Unplug it, and the LIN is alive again.

A good, correct part, does not kill the LIN bus
