Maddy up for sale (potentially) 1979 244 DL Saloon
 

Dear all,

Due to a change in circumstances all my fleet is up for sale as I need to trim it down by at least 2 cars therefore I am offering the wonderful 244 DL Saloon known as Maddy to members.

Steve did a great thread on her here:

Since getting Maddy I have put 1100 miles on the clock, bought but not yet installed electronic ignition, dismantelled and fixed the stalling issue (identified as a bit of vinyl in the reconditioned carb float chamber - must have fallen in there when the carb was reconditioned - by a professional as well!)

the car needs the timing set properly and could do with a good tune up

I have just put another 6 months tax on here and she is MOT'd till June - I do not envisage any issues on the MOT.

I will be looking for £750 which is what I paid for her.

Like I say, I am not forced to sell her but will be open to interest form members.

This is a wonderful, if not wholly original example of what is becoming a rare car just now - I absolutely love her and hope that it will be one of the other fleet that goes before Maddy.

Really sad to see this up for sale again :(

Maddy will only go to an enthisiast, the main reason why I am looking for a new home for her is that I have lost my garage space and she will suffer in the Edinburgh climate which, as those of you who know Edinburgh, is bloody awful for a car. I have some serious interest from mainland Europe and Maddy could be going to be a show car over the channel.

Rest assured she will only go to somone who can preserve her

here are some photos of the boot and under the bonnet

ok, as you can see from the photos there is no corrosion on this car - however what there is is oxidation of some very small 1-2mm points on the paint. Also under the bonnet there is oxidation which has appeared after a winter drive in february through a snow storm. This car will need rustproofing - as the previous owner used it as a show car all the rustproofing has been washed off. What you can see is what happens to a car after 5 weeks exposure to the British winter especially with the salt on the roads. If I were to keep Maddy she would be going to Rustmaster for a complete treatment.

Maddy is now sold. She will be leaving Blighty and going to live in the Netherlands with a true volvo nut who will be keeping her in the style she deserves to be kept. I am sure he will be updating us of her adventures there.
