Boot catch cover
 

Hello and thank you for reading this message.

Vehicle is 2006 (56 plate) V50 1.6 petrol.

The boot catch cover no longer springs upwards back into place. Photo attached. Search on internet suggests cover is integrated as one unit with base catch, but not sure and cannot find photos / part for just the cover. Looks like a spring has gone, that is all.

Is there a repair for this?

didnt even know there is one there, and I thought I knew everything about my car :D you learn every day I guess...

Yes. Easily repaired. The flap pops out. Look underneath it for any sign of the little spring that keeps it up.

Part codes

Spring - 8687427
Cover plate (flap) - 39854371 (for interior code 5X0X/5XEX)
Cover plate (flap) - 39854373 (for other interior codes)

Chances are you only need a spring unless the flap is broken.

i went and checked my + dads V50.
apparently Dads is missing the spring as well . mine is missing both...

ill add them to the last place in the list of "bits n bobs to finally get round to"

Thank you very much for your replies. Thank you Iainmd for the information. Just now have to find out how to pop out the flap. Alas, if there is no 1-2-3 guide available the result is normally that I break something! Thank you again!
