Caliper sizes? (XC70)

Hello gentlemen,

My right front caliper is giving me trouble and my repair man said he could only order one for 16" inch wheels (I have 18").
Now I've been looking myself online and indeed sometimes it mentions 16", but most of the time it doesn't mention anything, and I've been kinda wondering whether the wheel size has any influence of the size of the breaks at all or it's all just down to brake disc size...
Any people here who could demystify this?

Cheers

You can get the parts to overhaul callipers so if your repairman is any good he can sort yours out which is of course, the right calliper for your car.
http://www.brakesint.co.uk/ should have the parts you need.
Much cheaper than a new calliper.
I am sure someone will be along soon to answer your query on wheel size against calliper size.

Both the Volvo and ATE part number are clearly marked on the caliper so cross referencing to buy the exact equivalent is very simple. Example below of where to look but yours may not be the same number obviously.

No need to complicate matters with 16"/18" etc. and companies like big redd do refurbishment kits if you want to keep the original.

Yes,big redd will post you a seal and dust cover kit around £15 per caliper,i got a full set, but if you aren't doing the job tell your mechanic to carefully take the original dust seals off as in my case i just couldn't get the new ones to stay in place, luckily i saved my old ones and used those, which fit perfect.

measure the disc diameter once you take it off
