L.E.D Brake light replacement
The nearside brake light has failed on my 2010 S40. It would appear from what i can find online that this is a sealed L.E.D unit and the entire cluster needs to be replaced.
Is this so, or are there ways to get access to the diode? I've had a look but cannot see anything obvious. Any help much appreciated. |
Have you taken the unit out to look? Remove the small carpet panel from behind the light cluster and there should be a clip out section of the light cluster containing bulbs. I wasn't aware that the S40 had LED lamps at that vintage but maybe I'm wrong.

My 2012 V50 had a failed brake light. It would come on briefly then go off again. Had it changed under warranty and Volvo only needed to change the LED board in the cluster i.e. not the entire cluster. |
The high-level brake light might be LED but I've never heard of or seen LED's in the rear clusters? confused!

I think last model year of 2012 V50 also had those nice LED/CFL rear drive lights aswell, always liked shape of them. |
Our 2009 V50 certainly doesn't have LED rear brake lights. They are old-skool filament bulbs.
