Xc90 2006 headlights
 

My headlights are really weathered / opaque. I’ve done one with wet and dry and a polishing wheel but it really didn’t make a huge difference.

It’s it just a sealed unit and the whole thing needs replaced or is there cheaper option.

If I’m replacing both then is there a cheap option or an upgrade?

Nope. They are stupid expensive and the only cheapish option is to buy second-hand - if you can find a pair in better condition than yours.

You could try taking the headlights to a pro restorer, who might have more success than you.

You can try and clearcoat the headlights, i did them on my xc90, i wrote a post with all the steps on this forum somewhere.
