Siren Fuse number

Hi All,

Before I start this story I'll point out that I have a 2005 2.4 petrol V70. Anyway, here goes.

I have the slightly annoying "Alarm System Service Required" message. Now my forum search skills have told me that 1. I probably need to fit a new siren unit when I next have a free hour or two and 2. I should pull the fuse for the siren unit else my battery will go flat (again).

All well and good so far, except I seem to see repeatedly that the fuse I want is number 38. The interior fuse box has lots of gaps for fuses, but only the first 20 or so are used and nothing occupies slot 38.

I did pull out fuse number 8 - which was labelled for the sun roof. I don't have a sun roof. Was that the right fuse to remove?

Thanks for reading, and thanks in advanced for your help.

Fuse 38 is bottom right - you are looking at the fuse box on the drivers side dash end aren't you?

Is there a possibility someone pulled it before you?

Thanks for the reply.

So here's what my fuse box looks like.

And

Nothing above 19 is used and or labeled. I removed fuse 7 (sunroof) - but no idea if that's correct.

The fuse panel at the end of the dash in my 2004 V70 has all four columns of fuses mostly filled. Is this picture that of the fuse panel at the end of the dash where it is covered by the front door (left door, driver's door in my case)?

I pulled fuse 38 from mine and I have not had a repeat of the battery going flat. I still get the message, but the red LED flashes when the car is locked.

Thanks!

This was drivers side obscured by the door (right hand side when sitting behing the wheel). May I should go and check the left?!

Hmmm, not sure I can help much further as your fuse box is physically the same as mine but nearly all 38 sockets are used as per my label inside the 'door'.

Maybe the facelift cars had another fuse box somewhere else too?

Hayes manual agrees that it should be 38 for alarm, doesn't mention anything different for the P2 . I also don't have power seats so I'm not sure what 1 and 2 are there for either.

I have found 3 fuse boxes so far...

How many previous owners has this V70 had? The only thing I can imagine is that for some reason someone put a on a fuse cover panel from another vehicle and then someone else removed fuses from the panel to agree with the diagram. Judging by my 2004 V70 this is not the diagram for a V70.

Have you tried looking up the part number on the top of the diagram?

I could not get a link to a 2005 V70 fuse panel, but only to a 2004.

See this http://new.volvocars.com/ownersdocs/..._08a.htm#pg118.

If in the panel at the end of the dash, there are no fuses in 20 - 38, then a whole set of systems should not work?!

According to the 2005 manual I finally found there was a big change in the electrical panels from 2004 to 2005. Your panel in the picture matches what I found for the 2005 XC70. In the 2005 there is another panel under the driver side dash which contains the fuse for the siren.

The fuse you are looking for is in the fuse box below the steering wheel
