Start up problem - S motor fails to turn

Hi Guys
Can any one tell me what is going on?
When the key is turned the facier lights come up at the "ign on" Position when pushing through to start there is a click offside front under bonnet. The battery voltage drops a little but not enough to indicate the the starter is being switched. It does on the face of it seem that the starter solenoid is not working. But, is this true or is there some thing else going on.
Please let me know what you think is the fault is.

sounds like starter solenoid, it could be worth cleaning your battery terminals and associated connectors, also, follow the heavy duty red cable from your battery to your starter motor and check the cleanliness and security of the connection at your starter motor, it could also be an indication that your battery is low on charge, check engine to body earth straps while you are there.
Oh, welcome to the forum.

I'd reckon a bad connection. Do what stevo48 says and also check the engine earth strap from the battery. Give the connections a good wiggle becuase some times they can look OK but are really badly corroded.
