Mine also runs very, very erratic immediately after starting most days, but that passes within 30 seconds or so. After that, temps seems to have no impact. Idling along in 1st and particularly 2nd gear, however, is the pits.
This is designed in to help pull away , certainly on the 5 cylinder diesels for the last 2 years , i cant say i have noticed it on the D2 though although havent looked for it on those . The test to see if it is:
do the revs rise in neutral as you lift the clutch pedal UP ( not down ) , rpm will rise a couple of hundred rpm about half pedal travel ????
