Low gear torque reduction isn't there just to protect the gearbox, but its there to make the car smoother to drive with less wheelspin. Its not even active on all engine/software revisions.
You lost me from here...

So you would recommend the MTE upgrade and do away with the torque limits for the lower gears? And you're quite sure it couldn't damage anything?
