Improving on this design;

You can work around the possibility of any alternator damage frying your phone and also remove any ground noise (especially when charging) by installing two 1:1 isolating transformers, one for each channel, in the signal path between phone and head unit. They also might remove the need for any caps to filter distortion on the low end.

I had to do this on my hacked 801, because using a charger with my phone (Nokia E6) introduced all manner of alternator whine and switching noise.

Head units that have a dedicated AUX port designed in from the factory usually use this approach to ensure ground loops are eliminated.
