Remember during my c&g being told that an oil only keeps its properties for 2000 miles. This doesnt mean change it it just means it starts to stop working as its meant to, remember it does more than lubricate. tho oil has changed massively in the last ten years.
personally I use magnatec ( swear by it) 5w/30 semi syn at the mo.
£20 quid if you have a halfords discount card. Change it every 5000 and flush every other. Remember the most important thing is the api rating.
I also use XL oil addative since I see a demo and it makes the car feel smoother.
