New D4 engine is the way forward.... 181BHP with CO2 of 99g/km (manual) and 109g/km (8-Speed Auto), 400Nm torque, 0-60 in 7.2 and quoted combined fuel economy of 74mpg/67mpg (manual/auto)... so should be grins in all departments!
Although there is a new D5 due soon as well which will be 230bhp and probably equally as impressive co2's and fuel economy figures which should hopefully be a sub 6 second to 60 car.... we'll see!
EDIT: Just realised that you were talking about engines available in V40, which will be different to the above, but even so worth putting my oar in with the info on the above engines
