I've had similar, even during the same policy year.

Having renewed one March, I want to add another 340 to the list (no4 at the time)

First excuse was engine size (but I already had a 1397cc insured with them). Second excuse was vehicle not over 30 years old. (Two of the other vehicles on the policy weren't 30 years old either. So I didn't buy that car at the time.

Fast forward 6 months with FJ AND same underwriter. Added EXACTLY the same car (when it came up for offer again) for just the admin fee.

Sometimes it can be better to wait until your current policy ends and get the broker to chase a fresh quote for the pair (or more) if the current underwriter isn't accomodating mid-term.
