Just my opinion but I don't think the p3 are quite as good quality as the p2 cars. The p3 has been around now for a few years so should be sorted and as reliable as any decent car. The D5 engine is a strong unit albeit a bit agricultural sounding in the P3 ? The P2 was much quieter.Also the fuel consumption is poorer compared to the P2. Main other grumble seems to be auto box problems . My sons 2009/10 model is not the best gear change ,he complains of the usual hesitancy around 3rd gear. I am running a 2007/8 P3 D5SE Lux manual. It has 104k and still drives like a much newer car with no problems.
I don't think £500 ,when buying a new model is a lot to pay for peace of mind but why not shop around and try to get it included in the deal . If you don't ask ?
