All sorted.
Two hours work at the garage to make a new thread. Looks like they have also held it in with a bit of liquid metal or similar. As long as this sensor lasts another 150k km+ I shouldnt need to remove it again  Touch wood!
Part number for the DPF sensor under the car is: 31431046
