Interested in the various comments about visibility in the V40. I now think it is one of the worst-shaped cars out! (There again its just following the fashion - which is a shame for Volvo). With its sloping shoulder line, I find it very difficult to park straight, forwards or backwards (and I am no novice). I also think parking sensors are essential with this car, what with the small window and obscuring headrests, not to mention bollards and shrinking parking bays. Beyond the sensors, I just use my wing mirrors.
Like with most V40 gimmicks, I gave up on trying to activate the tilting mirrors, but I compensated by gluing a small extra mirror onto the nearside wing mirror, aimed to pick out the rear wheel - perfect for locating kerbs and the like.
