I would not worry about accumulation of anything. Using decent fuel and having the car services properly will mean there is no issue.
DPF regen will occur every 500 miles or so, and can last 20 minutes or so. If the cycle does not get time to complete then the next one will be sooner.
Dpf regens are triggered by a pressure differential across the filter - when the pressure differential is above a threshold, and the engine is sufficiently warmed up, the regen will trigger. A driving style that creates more soot (lots of hard acceleration) will fill the filter quicker. Lots of low rpm motorway cruising will fill it slow.
