Unfortunately this is what happens when decorative LEDs are used for continuously semi-permanent applications. The LEDs are not the same quantity as those used be Hella and other automotive lighting suppliers, so you cannot expect to get 10+ years lifetime out of them.
You will find that some fail earlier than others, and that after time you will have variable brightness across the LEDs.
Automotive lighting suppliers now have quite sophisticated technology behind their LED lamps: the LEDs are pulsed, thus resulting in less heat, brighter output, consistent light output across multple LEDs, and durable, long life operation.
You just don't get that with linear operated cheap LEDs
