I have 225/45/R17 Michelin CrossClimate tyres on the 17" spartacus alloys.

I wouldn't say I notice any handling difference, I got the wider tyres because they were cheaper and give a lot better protection to the alloy itself (I no longer scrape the wheel on curbs!).

It works well I've had no problems, go for it!
