I am going to change all my shocks and top mounts soon and have a good look to see if I can identify the cause of the noise.
A part of me is wondering if the top mount bearing has worn sufficiently that it is causing a rumble when that shock is loaded (nearside shock).
Incidentally I have changed discs and pads all round and the wishbone on the nearside front too.
I will update here if and when I solve it. I would appreciate if you would too.

Same problem. Garage say diff in the PS box, gearbox shop say bearing. Haven't changed bearing yet (money and time) but clearly if it's not that then car is scrap if diff.
Not sure if it could be gearbox related on manual.
