you have bought somebody else's problem , didn't they mention it? most likely the clutch slave cylinder which means gearbox out . You may see a few drips of brake fluid at the bottom of the bellhousing , there is a drainage slot there ....
odd that the pedal goes down overnight , isn't there a helper spring on the pedal itself which springs the pedal upwards ?
