You will find plenty of useful hints and tips - one is get some Carlube ATF-Q which is Laird Scooby's go-to solution for all manner of mechanical ailments. Another is to not be afraid to ask questions - that's the best way to learn. (See my first paragraph.)
Carlube ATF-U - ATF-Q is a Comma product and if memory serves, not much use for any of our cars.

As for the armrest, the 940 cupholder armrest is slightly longer than the standard one and has a cushion built into it, If you can get it secured to the hinge, it will improve matters considerably.

Like Loki said, questions aren't generally dumb - i always say the dumbest question is the one that hasn't been asked!
If you don't know and don't ask the question, it's all too easy to foul something up expensively - much better to ask the question and get an answer, even if the answer seems obvious and you just want confirmation.

You'll find as you go through ownership, there are lots of little changes to the cars over the years, even seemingly similar models. As such if/when you need to ask for help, the first thing to let us know is what year, model, engine and transmission it has, at least that way we have a starting point to be able to help.

Oh yeah, nearly forgot - welcome aboard!
