The springs tend to be stronger and retain their springiness longer, something i referred to in post #6 further up.
Generic/pattern parts use generic springs that aren't always as strong allowing "wiper lift" at speed (anything over about 30-40mph in some cases!
) but even Volvo wiper arm springs go weak with age.
