Yes the newer shape from 2008 is known as a P3.
I THINK you can add DAB to a 2010. It's included on the wiring diagrams and I've seen a few cars for sale online that say they have it. Most likely the dealer you spoke to was referring to the DAB upgrade as I think they only offered that from 2013 onwards.
Probably the physical installation would be the same but you would need different software. After a bit of Googling, it looks like the DAB application for 2010MY is 31266811. ITP Remove may be 31382168, 31268617 or 30786292 but I'm not sure. A dealer should be able to find the correct part numbers for ITP remove and DABM and then download them.
I don't think a dealer will install the hardware for you as they're usually reluctant to do anything that's not official, so you'd need to do that bit yourself first and then ask them to install the software. It may also be worth finding a decent indy specialist as they can be more willing to do stuff that's not quite "official".
Your best bet is probably to get a cheap fibre optic Y cable like in my previous post and make up a power lead so you can connect the DAB module to the car, then ask the dealer to install the software. At this point the software should install and you'll have an extra reception option somewhere around the AM/FM ones (sorry I don't know exactly, I haven't been inside a pre-facelift P3). You won't get any DAB reception but you should at least be able to select it.
If you get to that point then you can fix the module properly and sort out an aerial etc. for it and you're good to go.
If it doesn't work (or the software isn't available) then you've only lost the cost of the module and the cable, and maybe some dealer labour.
