That won’t be water ingress, it will be dry solder joints on one of the chips on the back of the instrument panel. All cars upto around 2003 have had or will have this fault at some time.
Look up user spokulozic on this forum, he repairs them and has a quick turnaround. There’s a sticky thread in the traders section labelled ‘problem with DIM, ETM.... etc’. That’s the chap you need.
