hi va and all sorry i forgot i posted the question, been busy and unwell never a good combination, well judging by the answers i may just have an experiment on the bonnet/hood and see if its possible to remove the laquer and leave the basecoat intact as its really not all that damaged its more peeling laquer than anything but being one handed makes sanding a difficult task and i cannot afford a body shop,i have previously used aerosol colour match and touched in along both doors and rear quarter where some muppet had keyed it previous to my ownership, the hood has peeling laquer and arse shape dents so i think its safe to experiment as it be hard to make it worse!
cheers
