Hi Alpine.

I think your mechanic should tell you what parts (part numbers) you need.
He should also tell you what code(s) he has read.

If your car has a VVT solenoid, then that narrows things down, and I think it must be a 4 valves per cylinder. I think it must have an electronic throttle module (rather than a conventional throttle cable). I think that would also fit with the blue badge.

Search for these part numbers on Skandix.de, and hopefully that will make it clearer which part you need.

Sensor, Crankshaft pulse
for Volvo S70, V70 (-2000): yearsmodel to 1998, engine all gasoline 5 cylinders 4 valves
Volvo S70, V70 (-2000): all models, engine all gasoline 5 cylinders 2 valves
3547699

Sensor, Camshaft pulse
for Volvo S70, V70 (-2000): yearsmodel to 1998, engine all gasoline 5 cylinders 4 valves
and
for Volvo S70, V70 (-2000): all models, engine all gasoline 5 cylinders 2 valves
9146108

Housing, Sensor Camshaft pulse
for Volvo S70, V70 (-2000): yearsmodel from 1999, engine all gasoline 5 cylinders 4 valves
9186812

Sensor, Camshaft pulse
for Volvo S70, V70 (-2000): yearsmodel from 1999, engine all gasoline 5 cylinders 4 valves
9202134

Solenoid, Camshaft adjustment (This is the VVT solenoid)
31355828
for
Volvo C70 (-2005), S60 (-2009), S70 V70 (-2000), S80 (-2006), V70 P26, XC70 (2001-2007), XC90 (-2014)

By a process of elimination you should be able to work out what you need, and cross check what your mechanic tells you.

Can you upload a photo of the faulty part? Is he going to fit it or are you? Why doesn't he just get the part for you? It's not difficult to fit.

Hope that helps,
Steve
