That 'Engine system service required' message nearly drove me mad last year, resulting in me replacing the pipes from the dpf sensor to the dpf, and the dpf sensor itself. I also took some oil out, and guess what, it made no difference. Light still on.
It turned out the Eolys fluid (now adblue) additive tank that feeds the dpf was cracked and leaking. I must have pranged it.
The tank was replaced and refilled - which solved the problem, and put the warning light out after Autel diagnostic instruction. It has not come on again since then.
Just be aware, that the additive tank is very expensive new from Volvo though - around £530. A second hand unit is around £250 if you can get one. Fitting though is not a big job at all.
