Bit of an update about this.. the issue is becoming worse and more common so decided to call Volvo. The guy there sounded pretty positive said to reseal it will be about £180, he said he can't guarantee it won't break but so far all the windscreens they've resealed have been successful with no breakages, so hopefully it won't turn into a £600 job. He recommended trying to push on the windscreen from the inside to see if it moves and I can see quite a bit of flex at the top.
So I'm going to book in to get a windscreen refit / reseal.
