Cleaned mine recently. I tried acetone, some treatment from Halfords (£15) and Mr Muscle oven cleaner. The latter was the most effective and the cheapest. For those of us stuck with the original and no chance of goodwill gesture, it’s fiddly and messy but really only needs doing once a year for the MOT.
Mine had been cleaned just before I bought it and it throw up the code within three thousand miles/ six months. Nice car so I’m prepared to live with this inconvenience.
