I have had that persistent humidity sensor component failure message for years. I assumed it was aircon related, but the aircon did and has still worked fine. I thought the sensor was in the heater assembly, which is very inaccessible. I recently learned the sensor is on the windscreen, behind the the rear view mirror shroud.
