You can’t drain every bit out anyway… there’s fluid inside the internals of the transmission (that’s not accessible).

I don’t know the exact amount of transmission fluid required for the XC90, but other Volvo’s with the same transmission certainly can’t drain 5.5 litres. The most I could get out of my car was 3 litres.
