If that really is the case I would certainly investigate and fix it.
How happy are you to literally get your hands dirty? I'd clean off the engine as best I can and then monitor it closely until I find where the oil is escaping from, not just where it accumulates and gets spread around by the air flow. Google will give you ideas or you could pay an independant garage but don't be heavy handed when washing the cleaning product off; there's a lot of expensive electronics around that doesn't like getting wet!
P.S. If you have the original 5 pot D5 they aren't noted for oil leaks.
