If you have diagnostics with live read out - I'd monitor the fuel rail pressure - start monitoring before you start cranking, see if the pressure builds quickly or slowly and if that's relevant to when the engine starts.

In normal circumstances, metered fuel pressure should be reached within 1 second of normal cranking.

If slow pressure build, then leak back test as suggested above.
