We're paying £1.57 / litre or c£7.00 / gallon. If you're around the same, thats about 3 miles per litre or 13 to 14 MPG. Thats horrendous unless you are sitting in stationary traffic 90 % of the time. All of our 7 series cars bar one returned mid to high twenties overall. The exception was a 2.3 carb auto, which did 23-24 overall. By your criteria, I'd be looking for circa 25p per mile.

Do you keep a detailed spreadsheet. I could quote you figures over many miles and years correct to four decimal places if need be, anorak that I am! By any standards, yours seen excessive to say the least. Serious question - do you have a leak? It happened to me once when one of these quick service outfits incorrectly fitted a fuel filter when I was working away from home.

Regards, John.
