I received my car back and a litre of oil was removed. However the engine code still persists, and the car still shows overfilled oil.

Thanks.
The 520d is a 4 cylinder engine. Your Volvo has a 5 cylinder engine (I think, unless its a VEA engine???). These 5 cylinder engines have a natural imbalance from the factory. Most cars are 4 cylinder, 6, 8 or even 12 cylinder. There's not many cars that use 5. This is why they can sound a bit lumpy and possibly not as refined as other cars, but they're still fantastic engines if looked after. I'd take a 5 cylinder D5 over a 4 cylinder BMW any day. The BMW will be in the scrap yard and the Volvo will solder on, if its properly maintained. D5's are capable of hundreds of thousands of miles. BMW's aren't.

As Graham said above, you need to find a Volvo specialist to look after your car. Back street/ordinary garages aren't equipped to work on these cars. If you frequent garages like those, you'll have nothing but headaches. Find someone that knows about these Volvo's and stick with them. The experience they have will pay for itself.
