Often these are OK in a scrappie and it is a piece of **** to rip them off by popping the little plugs through as described, but it only takes anoher 5 minutes to save the plugs.

On an estate 740 and cousins remove metal wear plate where bootlikd closes (4 screw, No 2 posi)

Remove trim panel up LH rear pillar (fingernails underneath bottom, lever slightly, twist towards boot aperture (ONLY HALF AN INCH) lift bottom end away and pop clips near top.

Now you can prise the side trim from the boot area loose. Shimmy the bottom loose and an inch or so into the boot space. Now you shoul dbe ble to slide the whole trim panel rearwards and avoid destroying the concealed trim clips. Or if it's in a scrapyard, just rip the whole thing off, swearing loudly.

Now you can see the inside of teh petrol filler area.

Push those litle plugs in an eighth of an inch.

Now with needle-nose pliers pull them througn and save them.

Go round the outside, and lift the petrol flap off. CATCH ALL 4 OF THE LITTLE RUBBER half-grommets before they drop/vanish/disappear int othe 4th dimension.

You have now saved all essential parts!
