Roy,
They locate the lower suspension wishbones to the subframe, at least these are the ones on my car that are being replaced.
The garage told me that the wear experienced was well beyond limit and resembled something that they would expect to find on a car perhaps 4 or 5 years
older than mine.
For the record I use my car just as the maker intended i.e. on the road. The problem is that I live on the Kent / Sussex border and the roads here are shocking. This was confirmed to me by a holiday to the Brecon Beacons last month which reminded me how roads should look / feel instead of being bumpy and covered in 'spray on tarmac & chippings' instead of proper repairs.
