Does this only happen when entering a roundabout? Is the road wet?
Could the sound/vibration/feeling through the brake pedal be the result of the ABS kicking in if you are depressing the pedal half-way or more.
A good garage should get to the bottom of your braking issue pretty swiftly though if it is the ABS then you may have to modify driving style.

Re the brakes - happens all braking. It is the steering that gives me the heebie jeebies on a roundabout. Road dry. But more noticeable if the car has been driving for a couple of hours rather than cold - if that make sense.
And yes - an expensive mistake @$70,000 list plus on-roads.
