Steering rack failure on volvos is quite rare , but when it does fail its best to get a genuine volvo one if you are going to keep the car for a while , fit and forget .. Its going to expensive which ever way you go .. I would keep an eye on yours for leaks and play just before the warranttry runs out .. The rack comes with the rods ( the rods which stick out through the gaiters to move the wheels .) The rods have a ball joint at each end which can develope play .
