You basically drill through the old ring gear, and remove it from the flywheel. You then heat up the new one, after cleaning the register on the flywheel, and the ring gear will simply drop on, and shrink fit itself as it cools....just like Vaughan said.
I have done a couple in the past, and have found that you dont need too much heat either.
Dont forget to check the starter gear as well.
