Sorry to disappoint you but no, it doesnt increase the power, it just allows the engine (and thus the car) to accelerate more quickly. It's just the same as having lighter wheels. If lighter wheels gave more power, i'd be out there with the electric drill right now! But you're right, the disadvantage is a less smooth idle. You'd have to remove an awful lot of material from a Volvo flywheel for it to cause a problem though.
