Colour is a very personal thing isn't it? Go with what you like.
I have never liked that yellow. My uncle bought a 144 new in 1971 - I hated the colour then (aged 6!) and I haven't changed my view!
If changing from "beige" (officially) is difficult, what about this?
Although I would call it gold, in the back of my mind, I think that this colour was actually called "beige" by Volvo is some markets/translations. So maybe you would not need to go through the official colour change process...?
