Think you probably have the metal can type. Check the dates on the old one to see how long it's been on.Priming the new filter can be done by letting the in tank fuel pump fill it for a bit or repeated cranking ( bit of a waste). I was going to fill it with the fuel from the old one but chickened out when I thought about the possibility of crud being introduced. Don't get a cheap filter , the injection system deserves the best - I always go Volvo.
