I have had the starting problem with my wifes v50 diesel sport. I have replaced the throttle housing, which worked a treat.

I also serviced the car, new oil and filter and fuel filter and housing, as there were air bubbles in the fuel line.

Started the car yesterday, all was good, took it a run, about 8 miles in the engine started to run really rough and started shaking. Now when I rev the car it sounds as if it is knocking, or really tappety from the top end of the engine.

The oil was the correct spec, the level is good, the fuel system has been bled from the filter housing and there are no bubbles in the fuel line now. the car seems to idle ok, but when you rev it, it sounds like a bag of spanners. Also noticed a small puddle of oil under the car today, but the level is still good.

cannot think why a service would do this. Also i replaced the oil filter again, incase i bought a duff one, but no joy.

Could air be trapped in the common rail ???
