Alternatively buy yourself a decent 240/740/940 for £1000-2000 miles, run it for 12 months and if it lets you down buy another one.

You could repair and run it for £1000 a year - and should do 30000miles. My 740 (now departed) was bought 2 year ago, at 17 years old, she did 17000 miles in the first year (including 2000 miles of heavy towing) without problem.

Even the naff fuel economy is offset by the minimal capial outlay.

With the money saved on a workhorse you can buy yourself a toy for weekend use!!!
