Question though, how can the fuel pump seizing take out the cam belt?

I am just curious.
The mechanical Very high fuel pressure pump ( 30,000 psi ) is driven by the camshaft. If petrol has been put in the fuel tank by mistake and the car driven for any distance this can rapidly wear out the fuel pump as petrol has very little lubrication properties. This is why most manufacturers say the " fuel system" has to be replaced after running mistakenly on Petrol . I wouldn't let it worry you , its extremely rare for this to happen on any diesel car.
