Yes, I realised that - I have now added one of the piggybacks you suggested and it's controlled by the ignition switch. Many thanks for the info.
I only meant that there was no real rush to sort it out. Anyway, it now has a 10A fuse (the only one I had available) but, I suspect that, in case of a short,etc, even a 1A fuse wouldn't blow before the wire melted, it's so thin.
